Dog portraits are taking over on the blog! I’ve had so many amazing pet portrait sessions lately, including this one. Heather, a former high school classmate of mine, contacted me about photographing her best friend, Mandi’s dogs. The reason why Heather wanted me to photograph the dogs for Mandi is because the oldest, Mason, has been having kidney issues. Mason is a 7-year-old English Mastiff and is one of the biggest, sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. I scrambled to find time in my schedule when I was in Boardman a few weeks back to squeeze in their session and it worked into everyone’s schedule perfectly.
When I arrived at Mandi’s house, I was greeted by Mason, Petunia: a 3-year-old French Mastiff and the “baby” Bosco: a 1-year-old English Mastiff. There were a lot of very big furbabies greeting me! We headed outside to their beautiful backyard for the session. I was able to capture images of the three dogs, as well as individuals of each dog. Creating an image of all three was easier said than done to capture a photo of these three together. I had to go with the flow of where the dogs wanted to be, because no prop I own would contain all of them in one space. Heck, I don’t think I even have any props for such big dogs!
Best of luck to Mason and his treatments for his kidney issues. Thank you Heather for asking me to make room in my schedule to get the chance to meet these three great dogs and photograph them for their owners!
I really love this last image. They look like some great dogs to me.
I could look at these sweet dog faces all day! Such a handsome group, and their sweet and gentle personalities just shine through!
I love your dog portraits and these are terrific!
Awe, you can just see it in Mason’s eyes; he knows his time is limited. Great shoot, Danielle.
Those faces are so stinkin’ cute. I just want to hug them all. Your portraits of them are fantastic.
huge dogs! but they still manage to look so gentle, well done!
They look so lovable.
