Ivy’s human, Kathy, recently contacted me for a last minute dog photography session. We never know in Columbus what the weather is going to bring from week to week, let alone day to day. I am glad I was able to get this session on the schedule while we still have all of the amazing colors of Fall surrounding us.
Kathy decided to go with an Essential Session for her Chocolate Lab. The essential Portrait Session is quick, at just 20-30 minutes versus an hour plus. When I found out that they lived on a stunning piece of land right around the corner from me, I knew an at-home photo shoot would be perfect. This shorter session was also a good choice since we were not going on location, where the dog would be overwhelmed by all of the smells and noises of a new area.
When I pulled into their driveway, there was a very happy dog running around the yard to greet me. Even at 8-years-old, Ivy is full of energy! She was playing fetch and running all over during the photos. I think she was so excited by the stranger giving out treats, that at times she could hardly sit still while I was photographing her. She has an amazing temperament and I found out that she is used as the assessment dog at Noah’s Too where she goes for doggie daycare. When the daycare is determining if a new dog is a good fit, they bring Ivy in to see how the other dogs will react to her.
We had a fun photography session, full of treats and playing fetch with her frisbee and tree branches. Even though we only had a short time for her photos, I was able to create some wonderful images of her. Here are just a few of my favorite images of Kathy’s dog from the photo session.
