Trips home are never rest and relaxation for me – photo sessions, visiting family and nights out with friends keep me busy every minute I’m there. When I was in Boardman the other weekend, my mother requested that I squeeze in her West Highland White Terrier’s portrait session for this year’s holiday cards. We planned this session better than last year’s, which you can see here.
Gunnie was just a few days from turning two and boy, he was in a “terrible two” mood that day. Little guy couldn’t focus on me or the camera because he was so concerned with everything going on around him at Boardman Park. I always wonder what people near by think is going on while I’m laying on the ground making strange noises to get a dog’s attention, that day was no different! Luckily, I was ready with my camera for those times that he would take a break and look over at me. For those of you familiar with the park, I really wanted to take a photograph of Gunnie in front of the St. James Meeting House red door. I should have known better that on Saturday afternoon in the fall there would be a wedding starting just as we got there. But, right by St. James was a cute little blue building that quickly replaced the red door for a great backdrop.
And, if you’re curious, the adorable Ohio State University dog sweater is from Moochie and Company. My mom had been in Columbus a few weeks before the session and we made a special trip to Moochie to pick out a Christmas sweater for him and left with an OSU sweater instead. She has yet to decide which photo to use for her holiday cards – so if you stop by, leave a comment to help her decide!
