I love giving back to the community, especially when it involves animals! I had recently donated a dog photography session and an 11×14 print to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County’s Wine and Chocolate Tasting event. Sharyn was the big winner and I had a chance to photograph her two adorable dogs.
The last few weeks I have spent a lot of time scouting locations around the area and I knew that Austintown Township Park would be just perfect for dog portraits. There are so many great locations in the park, it was hard to choose where to start. We had a very warm afternoon, but the dogs were great sports about everything! Gizmo is a very happy, hyper and curious Shih Tzu while Brandy is a much more laid-back Collie/Shepherd mix.
Sharyn let me know as soon as she had won her portrait session that little Gizmo was a flight risk, so she absolutely had to stay on leash for her photographs. I know that issue, both of my dogs must be on leash at all times when they are out and about. That is never a problem and I am always ready to spend the extra time in Photoshop, removing any traces of leashes than to worry about a dog running off. We kept Brandy on leash as well, since we were close to the dog park area. She was very intrigued by everyone coming and going with their pups.
I was able to create some fun photographs of the dogs individually. The challenge was getting these two to take a photograph together while both looking at the camera. Mission accomplished! I adore the image of the two of them together. Hopefully Sharyn loves it too and I am pretty sure that will be the photograph she picks for her complimentary 11×14 print.
