I squealed with delight when I opened my first email from Tara. She was soon going to be getting not one but two Shih Tzu puppies! She had not even gotten them at that point, but was already planning on having professional pet photographs taken. Tara wanted to get the dogs in as soon as we worked out the schedule, to capture them while they were still little babies.
This dog photography session was special, since Tara was coming to Columbus from Findlay. With a little bit of a drive ahead of her, we scheduled a few dates so that if there were any weather issues, we would have other options lined up. Luckily, our first date and time worked out wonderful — with hot, but lovely weather.
We arrived at Jefferson Park in Blacklick and I saw two little balls of fluff playing in the grass. Benji and Baxter are brothers from the same litter but were so different! Baxter, the black dog, was a bit smaller than his brother and had such a silly little personality. He was always keeping an eye on where his mom and brother were, while we did his individual photos. Benji on the other hand was bigger and more serious than his littermate. I adored that already, at 11 weeks, you could tell they were two peas in a pod, yet so different.
I had quite the time trying to get these two little dogs together for a few photographs. I rolled around on the ground with my camera to capture them playing together. I swear, these two were full steam ahead and would not tire out! I thought after individual photographs of each dog plus some playtime, they would be on the verge of sleeping, but not at all! Finally, they calmed down enough that with some quick hands I was able to get these two in a few images together before the play started back up.
Thank you so much Tara for making the drive to Columbus to have me photograph your beautiful little puppies. I cannot wait to see them grow up and how they look in just a year from now!
