Michelle contacted me about photographing her son Ethan’s senior photos. I knew from Michelle’s email that we would hit it off since she said she is also a huge Dave Matthews fan! Ethan is a basketball player and a Class Of 2018 Senior at Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio.

Mom wanted outdoor photos for her son and his only request was a basketball court for a few photos. Michelle and I decided that Mill Creek Park in Youngstown would be a good location for what she was looking for. Ethan is a star basketball player at Ursuline High School and wanted something different than the standard sports photos from the school. I found an older court near Mill Creek Park and was hoping that was what he was looking for. It’s an older court, a little rundown and nothing new or updated. When Ethan and Michelle arrived, they thought it was perfect! I was able to capture some cool photos of him in his basketball uniform, with a great setting.

We were planning on using Pioneer Pavilion as our main location. But, there was a wedding being held outside the building that day. Luckily, Ford Nature Center is just minutes away and also a great location in the park. Ethan was great to work with for his photos. Although like most guys, he didn’t really want to smile too much. But every once in a while I could get him to crack a smile for me. I was able to get a good combination of serious and smiling photos to please both Ethan and Michelle.
